Bonnie June "Sally" Underwood

Bonnie J. Sally Underwood, 80, of Nutters Fork, West Union departed this life on Friday, March 8, 2013 in the United Hospital Center following an 18 month battle with leukemia. She was born on June 3, 1932 at Nutters Fork a daughter of Otha E. and Ruth Squires Smith. In November 1959 she married Robert R. Underwood, who preceded her in death July 27, 1983. Her first husband, William Maxwell preceded her in death in 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Maxwell Sisler and husband Kerry Sisler, OFallon, IL Trish Cooper and husband Dewayne, West Union, one son, Phillip Underwood, West Union, three grandchildren, Nate Sisler and wife Melissa, Courtney Sisler, Brian Cooper one great granddaughter, Autumn Marie Sisler, one brother, Duane Smith, Parkersburg and several beloved nieces and nephews One daughter, Tammy Underwood, one sister, Patty Gain and one brother Robert Johnson preceded her in death.

Sally was a 1950 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She had worked in the Glass Industry, Goodyear and several grocery stores in the area. Sally was a former employee of the Doddridge County Board of Education as a custodian. She enjoyed being with her family, mowing grass, gardening and feeding her humming birds. Sally was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00AM with Pastor Tim Underwood presiding. Interment will follow in the Coleman Cemetery, Crystal Lake. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Wednesday until time of service.
