Betty Stansberry Obituary

Betty Lou Stansberry, 86 of Stuart Avenue, West Union passed away on Tuesday October 9, 2018 in her residence. She was born on October 7, 1932 at Sunnyside, Doddridge County a daughter of the late Avery and Pearl Wolfe Fleming. On December 22, 1950 she married Hunter Cline Stansberry who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Hunter Stansberry and wife Margaret, Albert Lea, MN, Rodney Cline Stansberry, Harrisville, grandchildren, Shane Stansberry and wife Abagail, Acworth, GA, Erin Menhart and husband Michael, Canton, GA, Ryan Stansberry, Kennesaw, GA, Gunner Stansberry, Harrisville, Great-grandchildren, Desmond and Connor Stansberry, Christopher and Orla Menhart. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Gaughan.

Betty had been employed as a secretary for the Doddridge County Health Department and Extension Office. She was a behind the scenes fundraiser for the youth of Doddridge County for 64 years. She was a Co-Citizen of the year for Doddridge County in 2016. Betty was a former secretary for the 4-H, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the West Union Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front Street West Union on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2:00PM with Pastor Ken Kelley presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the Spurgeon Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 4-8PM and from 9AM to time of service on Friday.
