Betty Maditz Obituary

Betty E. Shaver Maditz of Spelter and Big Flint communities passed away on December 4, 2018 at Pineview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Harrisville after a brief battle of cancer.

She was born on April 30, 1929 in Monongah to the late Paul and Lucy Lambert Shaver.



Surviving are her brother-in-law Darrell "Jack" Powell, Big Flint, niece, Denese Lamp and her husband Dave, Harrisville, nephew, Tim Powell and his wife Crystal, Big Flint. Great nieces and nephews, Michelle (Jason) Jones, Derrick (Samantha) Lamp, Harrisville, Amanda Powell, South Carolina, Brooke (Mark) Britton, Salem, Brittney (Ronnie) Hass, Holden Powell, West Union. Great-great nieces and nephews, Isabella and Gavin Jones, Colton and Carson Lamp, Brooklyn, Lennox and Semja Powell, Hunter and Harper Hass. Very special friends Betty Oldaker, Evelyn Harris and Johnny Bee. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Rose Ann Shaver, Doris Powell and her niece and special angel Deena Ann Powell.



Betty was a graduate of Victory High School with the class of 1948. She was a member of the Spelter United Methodist Church. She retired from the former Clarksburg Casket Company after 23 years of service. Betty enjoyed working word search puzzles, adult coloring books, playing bingo and cards. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Adam Cheeseman presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. and after 9a.m. on Friday until time of service. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Maditz family.
