Barry Ove Carpenter

Barry Ove Carpenter 78, of West Union passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at home with family by his side

Barry was born October 6, 1946 in Lewisville, OH, a son of the late Beryl Ove and Darlene Rose Winland Carpenter.

Barry graduated from Skyvue High School, Class of 1964. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked as a police officer in Clarington, OH, guard at the Moundsville Penitentiary; supervisor at D.K. Litton Co in Parkersburg and Valley Steel Co in Sistersville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Sperry-Davis VFW Post 9151, Salem and American Legion Post 25, West Union.

Barry is survived by his wife, Sherri Ann Heflin Carpenter whom he married January 28, 1991; three children, Crystal Porter, Rusty Carpenter and Shawn Ryan Carpenter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother,  Dana Carpenter (Artie); several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his son, Barry Eugene Carpenter; one sister, Cheryl Lasure.
