Amber Catherine-Ann McClain,37, of West Union departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2014 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born August 23, 1976 in Clarksburg a daughter of Roger A. McClain of New Milton and the late Catherine Diana "Cathy"Travis McClain.
Surviving are Angela McClain, West Union, Roger McClain II and fianc Jessica Huff, Salem, Stacy McClain, New Milton, Ronda Ash and husband Bryan, West Union, John McClain and wife Rebeccia, Hundred, Jennifer Leggett and husband Ray, Oxford, Alicia Healey and fianc Mike Stickel, Shinnston,maternal grandmother, Edwina Travis, West Union,and several nieces and nephews. Marla Ash Landis, New Mexico, Stephanie Leggett Frey, West Union, Zack Davis, Clarksburg, Allen Baker, Clarksburg, Jenna Baker, Clarksburg, Nicole Givens, Clarksburg, Candace Leggett, West Union, J.B. Healey, Shinnston, Brittany Ash, West Union, Kenny Healey, Shinnston, Haley McClain, Greenwood and Gordon Swiger, Shinnston. Great nieces and nephews: Claude Travis, Landon and Noah Schoonover, Caleb Givens, Madilynn Talkington, Syndee Claire Frey and Jason Ray Landis.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Burl Travis and paternal grandparents, Stacey and Freda Ashworth McClain.
Amber was a 1994 graduate of Doddridge County High School, attended WV Northern and obtained a B.S. in Business and also attended Fairmont State University in which she received a M.S. in Sociology and Psychology. She enjoyed researching Autism and about children with special needs. She loved to go shopping for shoes and antiques and decorate her house with primitive dcor. Most of all Amber loved spending time with her family and friends and had a very special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Aunt Amber touched all their hearts in a special way that they will always remember her. Amber was never shy about expressing herself and you always knew when she was in the room! Amber was always overflowing with emotion and full of passion for the ones close to her heartyou know who you are. As friendly and outgoing as one could be and no one was a stranger.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Thursday, March 20, 2104 at 1:00PM with Pastor Chad Ash presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 2-8PM.
